Volunteering at Deadwood Marathon

Five BHCFE volunteers made the trek to Deadwood to volunteer their time working a relief station at the Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon. There were 3000 runners from 46 states and 2 other countries who took part in the marathon. BHCFE was in charge of the first relief station for the half-marathon. We serve water, Gatorade, bagels, oranges, bananas, and M&Ms to the runners before the race begins. Guess what runs out first! It was an energizing morning serving and connecting with half marathon runners from across the country. The event organizer Emily Wheeler had positive things to say about the work we did. Marathon runners complimented us on having an organized relief station. If you ever want to come out and join us at this event or the Crazy Horse Marathon in the Fall please call the Center number, 605-348-3244 or check out our volunteer page on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/1616531745286221/ We would love to have you join us!

Warm Regards,

Sarah Keppen
